Feature story
written by Big Sister Megan.
"Over the past 3 years I have become Alyssa’s best friend in the entire world. She is so excited to see me and go out that she comes running out of her high school bouncing and doing twirls in the air with anticipation for our adventure. Her favorite activity together is when we drive out to Castle Fun Park. The escapade usually begins with a quick stop at the 7-11 where Alyssa likes to mix a hot chocolate with all of the fun creamers, sprinkles and marshmallows that the store provides; I usually need a coffee.
After consuming about half of her drink she is so pumped up with sugar and excitement that she cannot sit still, we usually have to pull over at the side of the road so she can jump up and down a few times and run around the truck. Then the fun begins;
Alyssa loves to dance, her favorite game at Castle Fun Park is DDR (Dance, Dance Revolution) a game that plays techno music while you dance to the directions on the screen in front of you. Alyssa is an absolute champion, she can attract the entire building to watch her dance with amusement while she gets 100% on the most advanced level not even breaking a sweat. Meanwhile I’m on the beginner or “novice” level which is as slow as a person trying to walk after knee surgery. I usually receive an “F’s” as my grade because I’m so uncoordinated. Alyssa just laughs at me as I’m short of breath and sweating and says “thought you worked out Meg?”
I’m 25, play basketball and workout daily, but I’m no match for a 13 year old on hot chocolate and friendship.
